Brisk Bars Review

My first bite of a Brisk Bars, I definitely felt the energy practically zing through me. It certainly was a taste I was not expecting in the slightest. The taste alone got me up and running to the refrigerator, to get a glass of milk. These are pretty bitter little bars, but they are effective. The bars themselves are actually two “doses,” I only eat half of one at a time and feel like I’m bursting with energy. I will admit, after that first bite, the shock factor was not there, and it was actually pleasant to eat. Definitely not what I am used to eating, but I did not feel like I needed to run to the refrigerator to get a glass of milk.

The pack that I got, a 4 pack, has lasted me quite a while. I feel like I only need one a day, and only on days that I truly need a pick me up (or nights really). I will caution eating this if you are wanting to sleep any time in the near future after ingesting this, if you are anything like me you will not be able to sleep a wink for quite a while after munching on it.

Even staying up late with a toddler teething, this has helped me to power through anything that I set my mind to. I definitely recommend this, it has been an interesting experience to be sure, and it definitely gives me energy. Just be prepared for a very bitter taste dancing across your tongue that first bite, to put a spin on an old saying “the first bite is the worst.”

"Intel-a-Temp" Digital Bottle Warmer and Sterilizer Review

The Intel-a-Temp has an interesting design. From the box to the actual use, this is an extremely stream-lined product. Perfect for a parent who is needing some quickness in their life for a baby bottle at two o’clock in the morning.

Below I will show not only the box from multiple angles, but also the pieces that make up the Intel-a-Temp bottle warmer. I will also go into the details of the actual baby bottle warmer and sanitizer pieces. There is also a video of the unboxing of the Intel-a-Temp digital bottle warmer and sterilizer below.

Starting off, the box’s front has a simple picture showing the bottle sterilizer in action, with the accessory that comes with the bottle sterilizer. The colors are bold but do not make the eyes feel overwhelmed.

The top has a simple latch, with the bold orange with black lettering proclaiming that the Intel-a-Temp is inside the box.

One side lists the operations for the Intel-a-Temp digital warmer and sterilizer. The instructions are short and sweet, with a picture for each step. Outlined are using the Intel-a-Temp as a milk warmer, a food warmer, as well as a sterilizer.

The other side lists the different functions of the digital warmer and sterilizer. Listed are the multi-function milk warmer, food warmer, and sterilizer temperatures, 3 minutes fast bottle warming, LED panel display temperature and operating time, programmable advanced timer, can be used with any size of bottles, fast heating and energy saving, 15 minutes automatic sterilizing time, and last but not least, automatic shut-off when water empty. Each point to the digital warmer and sterilizer is punctuated with a image to the side of it.

I was really impressed with the instructions on the Intel-a-Temp digital warmer and sterilizer. There was a lot more substance to the instructions and I felt that they were very easy to follow.

The sterilizer has a wide mouth and a solid base, meaning no matter the bottle I put in this, it worked perfectly. From my skinnier bottles even to my wide-mouthed ones.

The yellow piece provided for baby food works well, it fits right in the warmer and allows for maximum warmth spread throughout the baby food. I know my little ones like it when their food is warm, of course, wouldn’t most people?

The yellow cup has markings on it, so you can see exactly how much you are putting inside it.

The cup itself is also extremely easy to clean between uses, no harsh angles or anything of the sort. So far it has worked well and i have been pretty pleased with it overall.

The bottle warmer has been an easy thing to operate, following the instructions I actually was able to program it and I feel that it has helped out with feedings. Everything from the actual warming to the clean up has been extremely easy and I have not had any issues with it. Overall, yes I would recommend this.

Mobile Double Sided Whiteboard Review

The mobile double sided whiteboard on wheels by Superior Essentials is perfect for learning the alphabet with younger children, or even just brainstorming ideas for a project. I like to use this when I am making lists, or trying to organize something. The double sided aspect of the whiteboard allows me to do that. I want to cover the whiteboard itself, from installation, to use, the magnetic aspect as well as the fact that the whiteboard is double sided. I also want to briefly touch on the customer service given by Superior Essentials.

The Whiteboard Itself

The whiteboard overall was very easy to set up. Included with the whiteboard is a list of what should be in the box, as well as a paper with picture instructions on how to put the whiteboard together. This whiteboard comes with every single thing you would need to set it up, it even includes a little wrench and screw drivers. I definitely would recommend having two people set this up, it goes a lot easier when there are two sets of hands stabilizing it. Everything went really well together, except for the tray. The tray is directional, you will want to put the side of the tray that stick out on the side of the beam that has the Superior Essentials logo. I also want to mention, when you are peeling the protective layer off the whiteboard, it can cause quite the shock. My finger was numb from the shock that the static generated.

Using the Whiteboard

The whiteboard is really easy to use. It is an easy surface to write on, although I would recommend steadying it on the side with your hand when you are writing. Erasing, same thing, steady it with your hand on the side. It does wipe down pretty easily, even if the dry erase marker has been up there for a few days. It actually seems to erase better if I have let it sit for an hour or so before wiping off (although, it isn’t much different writing and then immediately wiping it off).

The Whiteboard is Magnetic

I love that this whiteboard is magnetic. My erasers that I use look like mice (the kind that you click with on a computer), and they are too large for the tray. Being that I can stick an eraser on either side makes it easy to flip the board since it has a little more weight on it (although not much). This also makes it a nice way to use my magnetic alphabet letters that I got for learning the alphabet with my twins, I don’t have to have the letters on the refrigerator in the kitchen which makes the twins that much less likely to actually BE in the kitchen when they are not supposed to.

The Whiteboard is Double Sided

This is a really nice thing for me. I can have say magnets on one side and writing on the other. Or I can use one side of the whiteboard for my own brainstorming ideas or lists and the other side can be for the twins. There are so many ways to use the duel sides, and it is incredibly easy to switch between the sides. You would just need to press down on the black piece in the middle of the support beam that is in the middle of the frame, and it will rotate around almost on its own. I would recommend having it flip so the front of the board goes around on the top, it seems to latch easier from that direction, although it does latch the other way as well (you just need to either apply enough of a swing or force on the black piece in the middle).

Customer Service

I want to include a little portion on the customer service given to me by Superior Essentials. I was blown away with how prompt the seller was at responding to my questions, and when I had an issue with a couple of screws going missing (they are very unique screws), they sent them out to me and provided the tracking so that I could see when the replacement pieces would arrive. I was also told that they would be securing the boards with an extra precaution during shipping so that others who were to order would hopefully not ever have the same issue again. The seller Superior Essentials went above and beyond in my opinion, and I have been thoroughly impressed by their actions.

Friendship & MLP Review

Boys can play with ponies too. My twin toddlers loved having the bus and the little ponies to play with. Not only did the friendship bus allow them to work on their sharing, but the little ponies were just the right size for their little hands.

They did have a little bit of difficulty getting the ponies into and out of the bus, but that did not deter them from playing with the bus. The friendship bus was the perfect toy in itself, it has a button on the front that you can push that opens the door on the side, and it has a manual stop sign on the other. My husband did scoff at the girly colors, but I think it is perfect for them, it has wheels and it has parts that can be played with.

The little ponies as stated, are the perfect size for my toddler’s little hands. They can grasp the pony and still get their fingers around, filling them fully. Even with inevitably ending up in the mouth more than a few times, the details on the ponies have stuck and there have been no issues in that department (the one thing I was worried about).

Shot Glass Reviews

There are several shot glasses I want to talk about in this post. The first is a shot glass perfect for one of my friends, but not so much for me. The other is a shot glass that every Harry Potter fan would definitely love to add to their collection.

1995 Happy 21st Shot Glass

A glass to commemorate the ones born in 1995. Sadly, I am turning the ripe old age of 23 this year so this shot glass does not apply to me. However, I have plenty of friends who could use this. It actually is a gift that I will be giving to my friend, eager to turn 21 this year, 2016. The shot glass itself is really sturdy and can take a few knocks, it doe show finger prints rather easily.

Polyjuice Potion Assume Form Shot Glass

Polyjuice potion, the first potion that is really known in the Harry Potter world. The Polyjuice potion is a potion to alter one’s appearance, or to in essence, change oneself. This allows the person to do that, because alcohol is known to be a very big factor in helping to ease restrictions normally placed on oneself. Plus, it is a reference to Harry Potter, so what adult in my age range, their 20’s, would not love to have a shot glass like that? I have really loved using this even for apple juice, it always makes me smile and the shot glass is the perfect size to throw back a swallow, so when I need that sip of juice on the go, I can definitely turn to my Polyjuice potion assume form shot glass.

Snug Cat Litter Mat Review

The Snug Cat litter mat does work well at trapping litter that might be flung outside of the litter box. The picture that I have is the litter box where it has obviously been used, and the mat underneath it. The litter box is a standard size litter box, so that might be able to help you visualize how large this mat actually is.

The Snug Cat litter mat is a very spongy material, full of loops to catch the litter that might leave the litter box while also being a cushion beneath the cat’s paws.

A nice draw to the Snug cat litter mat is the fact that the litter mat is waterproof. This means that cleaning it is extremely easy. In the winter months, a soak in water or a stream of water running through it cleans it well enough. In the summer time, the mat can withstand the force of a hose spraying this off.

The litter mat certainly does make it nice to catch the litter from the cat’s paws, instead of having to worry about finding litter all over the floor. This is done by the coils not only trapping the litter, but the mat having an overall slightly sticky feel to it. It is not sticky like a fly trap, but it certainly does have some sticking power to it. It does not stick to the cat’s paws, but it certainly does stick to the litter on the cat’s paws (although as mentioned rinsing the litter off the mat is extremely easy to do).

Overall, I do recommend this litter mat. Just make sure that you have an area large enough for it, it is almost too large for the area that I have the litter box.

Nail Art Brush Review

I want to give a first impression of the nail art brushes vs a later impression. I really liked how these nail brushes look at first, they had an interesting design painted on them, the base was wide while near the brush tips it was narrow. The brush tips were a little crunchy but easily softened up. They worked perfectly for several times at creating interesting designs. I am hoping I got a bad batch, because my later impressions of this nail art brush set changed drastically.

When I got the nail art brush set out to get some pictures, I noticed that there was some paint that had flaked off onto my chair. All I had done was remove them from their little bag and put it on my chair’s arm. That was not too big of an issue, yes I liked the design that was painted on, but as long as the brushes still did the functionality that they were supposed to, I would have been completely happy with them. However, the metal part distancing the wooden handle from the bristles also started popping off. It is easy enough to pop back on, but I do want to caution that they can do that with very little force (I just set down the brushes and then picked them back up and noticed one had popped off). Putting it back on was quite easy to do, and the metal piece pops on and off the wooden handle with very little force.

Back to a positive, I do like the fact that these brushes all come covered with a tip protector. All the tips and bristles were in perfect condition upon arrival, and allow for easy storage of the nail brushes.

Overall, I would recommend these, but I am hoping that mine was a bad batch and that others do not have the paint flaking and metal part popping off like I did.

Singing Bowl Tibetan Meditation Review

The singing bowl, or Tibetan meditation bowl is absolutely gorgeous. It is a deep colored bowl with a bright gold hand painted design. The bowl is rather heavy, especially at its base. The base is very sturdy whereas the sides are very light and airy feeling (although unbending when force is applied).

There is a mat and a mallet that are included when you order this. The mat also helps deaden the sound when you are transporting it. The mallet can be used in two ways. You can strike the singing bowl or you can run the mallet along the rim of the Tibetan meditation bowl to get a beautiful ringing sound.

When I first came across a singing bowl, I was actually in a church. They had a much larger one than the one I now currently have. The church used it as a time of personal prayer. The bowl was first struck and then the rim was rubbed for one minute, struck once more, and then all was silent other than the singing bowl. It allowed for reflection and for prayer.

This bowl has the same exact capabilities. The volume of sound that it emits is not that of the larger one, but the tone and quality of the sound is just as absolutely beautiful as its larger version. It has been a great way for me to help catch myself when dealing with my twins, who always manage to get into harebrained shenanigans. They both know that when I get out the bowl and let the singing bowl ring, that I want a moment to collect myself, and slowly they have started to take the moment to collect themselves as well. So for that reason alone, I would highly recommend this. Also, the sound is so beautiful and pure, it is hard to stay frustrated or angry upon hearing it.

Door Stopper 4 Pack Review

This is a really slender set of door stoppers. The door stoppers come as a pack of 2 2 packs. Be prepared to use a knife when you get this because a door stopper is hard to get to, you will definitely want one to conquer all the tape that is covering it. After opening the packaging, step back, it does emit a very strong scent, but it should dissipate quickly.

The quality of the door stoppers seems on par with what I was expecting. They are a thin rubber and are very flexible. However, I do not think that the door stoppers will have a chance of breaking unless someone is really trying to do so.

One side of the door stoppers, the bottom side, has a very deep texture to it. The other side of it, the top, is smooth until the end with two big bumps. This is to allow the door to slide up to the bumps effortlessly while keeping the door stopper in place.

The door stopper does work rather well if you have a low to the floor door. I have been pretty pleased with them so far, and I hope to be in the future as well. So as of right now, I do recommend these door stoppers.

Pocket Microscope Review

This is something I had never really thought of before, a pocket microscope. It really does fit in my pocket, and is also perfect for being stashed away in a purse or a backpack.

Setting the pocket microscope up is really easy. First you unzip the case then you just take it out of the little bag that it comes in. The pocket microscope requires 3 AAA batteries to work at its peak. The 3 AAA batteries power the LED light or the UV light, whichever one you might want to have on.

Other than the batteries, this little microscope is ready to go as soon as you get it. There are two dials to help get the optimal focus. There is the magnification dial, which moves the top piece up and down according to how you rotate the dial. Then there is the lower dial, which brings the actual lens closer or farther away from the object you are trying to look at. There is a switch on one side that allows for you to choose between the LED light, off, or the UV light. What you want to look at will depend on which light setting you will want to use.

I was really surprised at how well this magnified things. The top piece that you put your eye to actually is flexible, so you can get a nice fit around your eye. It is a little bit difficult to use this with glasses however, something I didn’t realize until my husband tried to use this. I just wanted to give a heads up for those who wear glasses, he did have a more difficult time using the pocket microscope than I did.

Overall, I have been pretty impressed with this little microscope. It works well, it definitely is pocket size and it has a cute little carrying case so you don’t have to worry about it getting scratched while being carried around. I will say, make sure to read all the cations on the instructions, there are some that I hadn’t thought about but will definitely adhere to.

Slim Sleeper Memory Foam Review

The Slim Sleeper is perfect for someone like me, who sleeps on their stomach. I am constantly trying to find a new pillow because it never fails, one I like starts to go flat. I like to have support underneath my head, and not feel like I’m sleeping with nothing. This gives my head enough support, while not propping it up in an annoying fashion.

Perks of this particular pillow:

1. Stays cool to the touch


2. Flat


3. Supportive


4. Regular pillow sized


5. Makes excellent pillow topper when side sleeping

The Slim Sleeper Stays Cool to the Touch

This pillow is perfect for those who heat up, I haven’t had any issues while using this pillow with overheating. It does get a little warm after being laid upon for a while, but it’s not hot like a regular pillow would get.

The Slim Sleeper is Flat

The fact that it is flat means that is perfect for those who sleep either on their back or their front. I personally usually sleep on my stomach, and it cushions my face well. My husband however, sleeps on his back most of the time. To test this out, we one at a time swapped out our old pillow for this one. I felt supported while on my stomach and he had a gentle support when he was laying on his back.

The Slim Sleeper is Supportive

As I just mentioned, this is extremely supportive. This pillow is very slim, after all, it is the Slim Sleeper. It does not do well on its own for side sleepers, but it does do well for supporting the head at a nice angle for those who sleep on their backs or their stomachs.

The Slim Sleeper is Regular Pillow Sized

I love that this is regular pillow sized. It works perfectly with my old pillowcases. Granted, there is room to spare in the pillow cases because the depth of this pillow is not there, but it does work length and width wise.

The Slim Sleeper is an Excellent Pillow Topper

Sometimes, I do sleep on my side. I have found when using this and sleeping on my side, that if I put this on top of a pillow that is a smidgen too flat to be comfortable, adding this gives a lot of support to my head and helps me reach the ideal height for me while sleeping on my side.

The Slim Sleeper’s Verdict

I really like using this pillow, it has been nice to use all around. It is meant for back and stomach sleepers, but can also be a good supportive boost for those who are side sleepers.

Topaz Watch Review

This watch is a really beautiful piece of machinery. The metal gleams and the leather is a rich black. The hands on this Topaz watch glide seamlessly, and keep a really nice time.  Not only does it keep track of the time, but it keeps track of the date as well (although this style you have to manually change the date if the month is off, like say February).

Setting the watch is fairly simple, the dial on the right side when you first receive it has a little piece of plastic between the dial and the Topaz watch. When you want to set the time you will need to remove that piece of plastic.

The watch band is very thick, a lot thicker than any other watch I’ve worn before. It has a suppleness to it as well. When I wear this, the band does accommodate for my more slender wrist, but it also works well with larger wrists.

The face of the watch is rather large. It absolutely swallows up my wrist. It definitely is a men’s watch, but I like how large it is, it’s definitely eye-catching. The colors on the watch make the hands on the clock really stand out, the hands bright colors while the background a deep and dark color.

One thing that I have really liked is so far while wearing this, I haven’t broken out. This is big to me, since I am allergic to some metals. The back is wide enough though and flat enough that if I do notice I start reacting to it, I can easily cover it up with clear finger nail polish. Fingers crossed I don’t have to do that though!

All in all, I definitely think this is a beautiful watch and it would make the perfect gift for someone. I know I definitely have enjoyed wearing it, and so far I haven’t broke out, which is a huge plus since I’m allergic to some metals.

Topaz Watch Review

Being Nobody Review Contemp. Romance

Being Nobody is one very hot and steamy romance novel. I didn’t realize jumping into it how much steam there actually would be in this novel. There is a good story line to this, it keeps you wondering how long things are going to stall before exploding in the main character’s, who’s current name is Mallory, face. This story is one of a girl always running because she is part of the witness protection program. Her father witnessing a crime caused the entire family to go into hiding. Mallory has trust and attachment issues because of this, and is torn when she meets Brian. A lot of stuff goes down, and there definitely are some surprises that did come out of nowhere. The one thing that made me groan and want to throw my kindle is that this ended with the words “The end.” That was just a little too corny for me. I haven’t read a book that ends with that in years that wasn’t a kid’s book. I am anxious to read the second installment though, it’s an interesting book that I had a fun time reading.
